Philip J. Gruber General Vice President ― Midwest Territory Phil Gruber, a journeyman machinist and 34 year veteran IAM member, became General Vice President for the IAM Midwest Territory on July 1, 2006. Prior to his appointment as Administrative Assistant in the Midwest Territory, he served as the Directing Business Representative for IAM District 9 in Bridgeton, MO . During his 16 years of service on the District 9 staff, he also held the position of Assistant Directing Business Representative and Business Representative. After launching a career as Tool and Die Maker in the1970’s, Gruber became a Steward and later a Chief Shop Steward while working at Ehrhardt Tool and Machine. From there, Gruber went on to serve on union committees and was elected Treasurer and President of Local Lodge 688.
